It’s Time for a Girls Weekend
Have you forgotten what this even is?
As summer approaches and the weather starts to warm, it’s natural for thoughts to turn to “getting back out there.” There are fewer more exciting things for the single woman than a good old-fashioned girls weekend. Not that married or otherwise committed ladies can’t enjoy a girls weekend, of course, but they enjoy them in a different way. For them it’s about getting AWAY from something (or somethings) and for you it’s about getting TO something. The girls weekend holds a special bliss for the single girl. And now that travel is really a thing again, it’s time to grab your gf’s and reconnect!
You have someone to travel with
First off, the single girl often finds herself with no one to travel with. There’s always the option of travelling alone, of course, but not everyone wants to do that or is there yet. So, having a girls weekend to go on means that you’ll actually get to travel and you’ll be doing it with at least one other woman, while reaping the rewards of those encounters – too much food, too much wine, lots of laughs, just the right amount of gossip and an appropriate amount of dancing on tables. Yes, trust me, there is an appropriate amount, especially when you’ll never see these people again! J
Single girls weekend at the cabin
A couple years ago (pre-covid) a new friend of mine invited me and another single friend of ours up to her cabin for the weekend. And when I say cabin, I mean cabin. It was a nice place and well appointed, but no cell service, no wifi, no TV, and one radio station that played 80’s music, which was just fine with this Gen Xer. I was expecting the usual food, wine, laughs and gossip, which I got, but I also got something else so unexpected. We had planned to hike on Saturday morning and spend the rest of the day relaxing. Instead, we started chatting the minute we got up and didn’t stop the whole day. We literally sat in the living room of this cabin in our pajamas, no showers, no hair and makeup, eating, drinking and talking the entire day. We shared so much of ourselves, our families, our past relationships, our hopes and dreams. It was one of the best days I can remember having and never would’ve happened had we had access to our phones or other people.
Single-girl bliss on vacation?
The girls weekend can be as simple as a staycation at one of your homes or a 2-hour drive to a nearby tourist spot, or it can be as adventurous as jetting off to an all-inclusive in the Caribbean. You and your girls get to decide everything, the only thing that’s set in stone is the no-boys-allowed rule. So, gather your friends, pick a spot, make some reservations and some plans, and really enjoy connecting and having a blast!
